David Dines
Mr. Dines is a Strategic Advisor for Proterra.
Mr. Dines spent 29 years at Cargill, Inc. before retiring in September 2021. He has long held global leadership positions at Cargill, beginning in 1994 when he helped launch a new business venture, Cargill Risk Management, a regulated financial swap dealer that provides customized risk management products to the global marketplace. In addition to serving as president of that business, he led the Cargill Metals & Shipping enterprise as well as the Energy, Transportation & Metals and Financial Services platforms. Mr. Dines was elected Corporate Senior Vice President and made a member of Cargill’s Executive team in November of 2015. He was named Chief Financial Officer of Cargill in December of 2018. He chaired Cargill’s Financial Risk Committee and was also a member of both Cargill’s Process, Data, and Technology Committee and Commodity Risk Committee. Prior to joining Cargill, Mr. Dines was Vice-President at Bankers Trust Company where he spent nine years doing fixed income and derivative sales and managing sales teams.
Mr. Dines received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Colorado College.
